Essential Oils | A Mom’s Perspective

Spread the love

Let me just start out by saying this… I’m not trying to sell you on essential oils.  This is my perspective as a mother who wants to take a more natural approach in caring for her children.  An approach that moves away from modern day remedies that often contain ingredients that I can’t pronounce and moving towards God given properties that work with our bodies.   I know I’m not the only mother seeking the best for their children, so I’m passionately sharing how I’m making that happen.

Essential Oils - A Mom's Perspective | Southern Made Blog

It’s funny how your perspective changes when you become a mother.  It changed in so many ways for me. When my first son was born, I was in awe as I sat in the hospital looking at him.  This little human being that formed inside me was my responsibility and would rely on me for everything!  It wasn’t until I grasped how new and pure his body was that I realized I didn’t want to just put anything into it, or on it for that matter.  As parents, we are shaping our children for their entire lives…emotional, mentally, spiritually and physically.

I think it’s so easy and normal to stick to what you know and how you were raised, ya know?  That was my thought process for a long time.  When I started really thinking about what we were putting into our bodies, I became more conscious of the ingredients, not only from the food we eat, but what we put on our body. Did you know that your skin is the largest organ in your body and that whatever you put on it will be administered into your bloodstream within a matter of minutes?  The more I researched and thought about this, the more uneasy I became with what we were using in our everyday life.

That was when it clicked for me.  I knew I wanted to start moving in the direction of an alternative lifestyle that broke away from the things that were harmful to my boys, my husband and myself.  This won’t be something that happens overnight, but I know I’m being proactive and taking steps towards creating a healthier life for my family.

After researching, I knew that the Young Living brand would help accommodate doing just that.  Not all oils are created equal. I’ve seen oil bottles that say do not ingest.  Then why on earth would I put it on my body? Essential oils work with your body aromatically, topically AND internally…not just one or two ways, all three.  There is an industry-standard practice of dilution and adulteration that makes it necessary to use oils that you know beyond a shadow of a doubt are clean and pure. Young Living has a 20+ year history of being the best. Because Young Living is proud to set the standard for essential oil purity and authenticity, they offer a “Seed to Seal” guarantee that what you are getting couldn’t possibly be more clean or pure.  From the time the seed is sourced until the oil is sealed in the bottle, they apply the most rigorous quality controls possible to ensure that you are receiving essential oils exactly the way nature intended, unadulterated and free of synthetic chemicals.  They are the only company in the world that does this. So, this is why I chose Young Living.

If you’ve ever wanted to move towards a more natural, holistic lifestyle, then I highly suggest trying out a starter kit of Young Living Essential Oils.  If you are curious and want to find out more about oils and Young Living, I have an amazing and very informative webinar that I’d be happy to email you.  Send me an email (southernmadeblog (at) gmail (dot) com) or comment below.

Ready to start using essential oils? Then you can get the kit here.  I know learning how to use them can be intimidating and overwhelming.  I’m a part of a group that offers continuing education on how, when and why to use the oils. That’s one of the best parts of getting your kit within our group! We are able to constantly learn and reach out to those who can help with any questions we have.

Essential Oils - A Mom's Perspective | Southern Made Blog

My goal in sharing our essential oils journey on my blog is to help you see how easy they are to use and how they can truly change your life.  Not only does Young Living have essential oils, they have a variety of all-natural cleaning  products, vitamins, and the list goes on and on.  I can now go chemical free and replace it all with Young Living products.  I’ve never been more thrilled to throw things away.  I’ll be posting more on the blog about how we use them in our everyday life from what I diffuse, to the oils we use from morning to night, and how I cook and clean with them.  You can find me on Instagram (southernmadeblog) sharing this as well.  I’m very excited to take back our health and have y’all follow along with us in the process.

I’m on my way to learning so much more about EO but its a slow process…old habits will need to be broken. Glad to know that another Momma is making such amazing strides to eliminate those toxic chemicals out of the household. Great post.

Thanks, girl! It’s definitely been a process and I’ve had to change my mindset for sure. I’m moving in the right direction, so that’s what matters. :)

I had not heard of Young Living products and will definitely look into them. I honestly don’t think twice about some of the products I use whether oils or cleaning products, but I know that I need too because most of the ingredients I can’t pronounce–which is NOT a good thing.
Thank you so much for sharing Ashlie!!!

Twenty three years of loving this man and seventee Twenty three years of loving this man and seventeen years since we made it official in front of our family and friends.

It’s pretty special when you get to spend your life with your best friend. He’s my strength when times are hard and my partner when times are worth celebrating. He’s my favorite person that I never want to be without.

As I type this, I’m sitting on a soccer field watching our boys practice while you’re on the sidelines coaching. You always step up to coach them, not only sports but each day of their life. I knew you’d be an amazing dad but to see that come to fruition before my eyes has been incredible to watch. It’s just further proof that God answers prayers.

This is the life I prayed for as a girl. I wanted to be a wife and a mom. The Lord gave that to me and far exceeded any vision I created of what my future could look like. I have the pleasure of living out that dream every single day. When I slow down and take a step back to look at what God has done in my life, my biggest blessings are my husband and our three boys. He’s been so good to me and I don’t know what I did to deserve it.

Babe, you love me fiercely. You always make me feel like I’m the most beautiful girl in the room. You go above and beyond for our family. You still make my heart swell and give me butterflies after all these years. If anyone would’ve told me as a young teenager that I’d have a love story and life like ours, I wouldn’t have believed them. You are my dream come true. I love you will never be enough. Cheers to us for seventeen years and decades more to come! Happy Anniversary, my love!
🇲🇽 Mexico photo dump ☀️ We ran away to 🇲🇽 Mexico photo dump ☀️

We ran away to Mexico again this summer for a week. A tradition that I’m quickly coming to love. Except this time we brought some of our dear friends! We had the best time.

We’re leaving a little more tan, decompressed, and rested than we we arrived. Love this uninterrupted time with my handsome guy. Now to get home to our boys!!

✨Come along with me for a Chemical Peel with @_s ✨Come along with me for a Chemical Peel with @_sundayskin_ in Brentwood. Check out my stories for more details from @caroline.tingquist.np ✨

If you don’t know anything about chemical peels, you’re going to have some downtime after it due to the peeling. This was my first one and I was a little nervous if I’m being honest. 🙈 This particular peel was the most intense one that Sunday Skin offers. To my surprise, the process really wasn’t bad at all. It’s was pretty warm on my face immediately after but the fan helped tremendously.

My top layer of skin definitely peeled but it wasn’t crazy. I wish y’all could have felt the skin on my face after it healed! 🙌🏼 😍 It was glowing and the texture was so much better. The benefits from this treatment are endless! I’ll forever praise microneedling and chemical peels because of how they transform my skin.

Nashville friends, you have to go check them out. Be sure to watch the “Sunday Skin” story highlight I’ve got saved with all the deets.

✨Ok, ladies! I want to know what is your favorite skincare treatment you’ve ever had?✨
Before the chaos of summer and our move happened, Before the chaos of summer and our move happened, we escaped to Mexico for a little vaca just the two of us. 🏝☀️

What a great trip to start this new chapter of our lives. We had uninterrupted time for each other. I started reading again and made it through two books. We got some serious vitamin D and put our phones down. Quite frankly, it was glorious.

Do y’all find that the longer you’re away from social media the harder it is to come back? Disconnecting feels sooooo good and it gives you perspective. So, if you haven’t seen me on here much… that’s why.

It’s so easy to get caught up in the rat race of social media. Especially when you run it as a business and feel the pressure to try and jump through IG’s hoops to get in front of the people who actually follow you and want to see your content. It’s a mental game that’s not fun to play. I miss the days where you could post freely. Without hashtags or any other tactics to get your picture in friends’ feed. Without wondering if the time of day is good to hit publish. Without wondering if you’ll get the likes and comments because that’s what helps you get jobs. It’s exhausting.
** My blogger friends will feel me deeply on this.

BUT what I do love about modern technology and these apps is the connection it’s brought me. I’ve got friends all over the US and these things keep me connected. They let me feel like I’m still a part of their lives from afar. It’s also allowed me to “meet” so many of you sweet IG friends. I’ve really enjoyed that aspect of this community over my 7 years on this app.

So if you follow me and happen to scroll across this today, thank you for being here.🤍 Truly.

Say hi in the comments or shoot me a DM. Talking with y’all and building relationships has always been my favorite thing about this space!
