Gaylord Opryland is what Christmas dreams are made of during the month of December. If you are a Nashville local or planning a trip to Tennessee, you have to visit this incredible resort. Christmas at Opryland runs from November 12th through January 2nd. With over 30 activities, there is something for everyone.
This was our first time visiting during the holidays and our family has agreed that we’ll be back every year. We only stayed one night but could have easily turned into a weekend staycation. Head over to my Instagram to watch the “Opryland” stories highlight” to see everything we did in real-time. I’ve also got a few reels showing our favorites. I’m going to round those up and tell you all about them below!
Ice Skating & Tubing
We ice skated and went tubing at night, which was really pretty with all of the lights. They’ve got a stage with live music playing in the background. If we had to wait in any lines, it wasn’t for very long. The great thing about the ice activities is that once you get your wristbands, you can go back as many times as you want that same day. I loved that they had small animal chairs so the kids could push or ride in if they needed help skating. They also have professional ice skaters that put on an epic show.
Mission: Save Christmas featuring Elf
This was interactive in the best way. It was definitely the boys’ favorite and I think it was mine, too! We walked into snow flurries and every single room you entered was a different scene from the movie Elf. If you love the movie as much as our family does, this is a MUST-DO! We walked through the candy cane forest, the boys got to have a snowball fight in Central Park, played with toys at the North Pole, and so much more.
Gingerbread House Decorating
One of our favorite things to do leading up to Christmas is to decorate gingerbread houses at home as a family. Needless to say, this was right up our alley. The staff gives you a box with everything you’ll need to make the perfect gingerbread house. It’s even put together for you and ready to go. There are plenty of tables and lots of cute photo ops. Finn took advantage of the cute gingerbread man.
From the moment you walk in, you’ll see it’s unlike any resort you’ve ever been in. There are lush plants everywhere. As we were walking through, Finn asked, “Mom, are there monkeys in here”? It made us laugh so much! It really is incredible throughout the entire resort.
Overall, we give it a 10/10! Everything is super family-friendly and gives you the opportunity for lots of memory-making. We weren’t in our hotel rooms much, but they are absolutely worth mentioning. From the incredibly comfortable beds, room service at your fingertips, and patio looking out into the hotel, it just adds to the magic that you’ll experience here. A special thanks to Gaylord Opryland for hosting us. We can’t wait to visit again.
